The Divergence of Consciousness and Technological Capability
As human knowledge accelerates exponentially, our behavioral psychology—susceptible to tribalism, war, and systemic suffering—remains stagnant. This widening gap creates a perilous landscape defined by SPOIs (systemic/technological triggers) and IPOIs (human/political vulnerabilities). To survive our own technological adolescence, humanity must transition from individual-focused Human Rights to broader Existential Rights, protecting the species and biosphere as a whole.
The Consciousness Baseline
Despite philosophical leaps, core human behavioral psychology is largely unchanged. We remain prone to greed, inequality, and tribal violence. The magenta line represents our stagnant ethical maturity in the face of god-like power.
SPOI (Systemic Vulnerability)
Single Points of Influence: As connectivity and tech democratize, the ability of one person or a small group to trigger a catastrophic event (engineered pandemics, AI failure, complex derivative market crashes like 2008) drastically increases.
IPOI (Human Vulnerability)
Individual Points of Influence: Centralized political and economic hierarchies create vulnerable human nodes. Leaders and key decision-makers can be bribed, coerced, blackmailed, or exploited, swaying massive, species-altering decisions.
Existential Rights
Because SPOIs and IPOIs bypass traditional checks and balances to threaten the entirety of the biosphere, human rights are no longer sufficient guardrails. We require legal, ethical, and structural Existential Rights to safeguard the collective survival of the species.
